"Yeah Applejack, Woo-hoo!" *crash*

Just got back from my only class today, had this stuck in my head all day, for no real reason:
So glad Derpy got a speaking role a couple weeks ago, she's awesome.  However...
Applejack is still best pony to me :D

So, grad forms are in, found out I still have to take the GRE because I performed so shittastically last semester, figures.  But, I can take it, no different than being a regular old student applying for graduate school.

Debating about dinner, was gonna fry some chicken but also considering making one of those small DiGiorno pizzas.  And not just any pizza, one with a cheese-stuffed crust.  Damn those things are amazing.  Only thing I do though before cooking them is I scrape off any cheese that may be on the bottom of the pizza; it always crisps it and makes the crust crunchy, in a bad way.  I don't know, am I just being OCD?  Still, it comes out really good and I enjoy it.

Did want to talk about Hybrid Heaven still but been playing a lot of other games at the same time.  Quick rundown of what I've played recently:
  • Turok 2: Seeds of Evil (PC, already beat it but re-installed it)
  • Terraria
  • Minecraft
  • Evochron Mercenary
  • Kid Chameleon (but already wrote about that)
  • Spelunky (just downloaded it, may play tonight)
  • EarthBound (would play Mother 3 but waiting on my friend's return to continue it)
  • Katamari Damacy / We Love Katamari
I have an EasyCAP (for when I play the PS2 games), so one day I should set up a LiveStream for when I play all these games.  If I get enough viewers I think it'd be fun to do.  Maybe on my free days I'll do really long gaming marathons for old games.  Yeah, that'd be pretty cool.  Would need a co-star though or it's not as good, at least in my opinion.

Gonna make some dinner and try out Spelunky, if for some reason I don't play it much, will probably end up just spending some time in Evochron Mercenary or whatever else that looks good.  Also need to work several hours tonight, should probably do that first...will see though.

Oh, and going to New Hampshire on the 15th for a few days with the family, until the 20th I believe.  Should be fun, hopefully will get the chance to be in the snow again (something I haven't experienced since I was 10 years old, which was the only time I've been in it).

Also thinking about the video I posted at the beginning of this post, still got Pinkie's words stuck in my head.

Insomnia

It's 1:20 in the morning.  Why am I still awake?  WHYYYYYYYY

Watching Tim and Eric's Awesome Show Great Job.  Why the hell haven't I watched this before?  Practically a YTP in itself at times.

Been playing Hybrid Heaven lately, it's a lot of fun, will make a post about it in the near future.  Basically it's an RPG with fighting elements in it.  In my opinion, it's a game that deserved more popularity during the Nintendo64 days.  Considering the system didn't really have much else for RPGs...Quest 64 is the only other one that comes to mind.  And Paper Mario, which is probably the best the system had.

Been worrying about someone lately, probably more than I should, but still I worry.  I just follow my instincts and they've generally been right 95% of the time, and something in my gut just tells me I should be worrying.

1:30 now.  Starting to feel like I'm typing a mindless rant, just typing out things without even thinking about it, without editing sentences or anything of the sort.  Feels good.

Statistics class tomorrow (Computer Systems Performance Analysis, to be specific, but it's pretty much been nothing but statistics formulas and such so far).  Also gotta run around campus to get that graduation form signed and whatnot.

I'm starting to feel a bit of depression hitting me again.  Don't know why.  Really hope meeting up with the bronies at the end of the week fixes that.

For now, it's late, and it's time for bed.

Goodnight everybody/pony.

I hate Mondays (and Wednesdays)

Well, I usually don't mind Wednesdays, but I hate them both for one reason: the first class of the day.  Wake up at 8:30 am to get ready for my 9:30 class, in which I listen to a professor who's as monotone as Ben Stein, and is quieter than the sound of me typing on the laptop (which is pretty damn quiet).  I seriously have issues staying awake in this class, even with plenty of sleep the night before.  Ugh.

Graduation (for my Bachelor's) coming up, gotta get my forms turned in this week by Friday.  Kinda nervous, to be honest.  After my performance last semester I'm quite scared about my future.  It's worse when you have an older brother who's doing so well in school, soon going to pharmacy school, finishing graduate courses this semester.  I know my parents will end up giving me hell if I don't do as well computer-wise as he does with medicine.  I've got nothing against my brother, I'm proud of how much he's succeeded, I just wish my parents would be accepting of what I've accomplished even if I don't do as well as he did.

Thankfully this class ends soon (at 10:50), going to my Mobile Computing class after that at 11 (until 12:20), and then maybe my Analysis of Algorithms course at 12:30 (until 1:50), its the one class on these days that doesn't take attendance and everything is put online anyway.  Plus I'm quite familiar with some of the material.  Gotta work for a few hours today (I do search engine evaluation work for Google as an independent agent.  Gets boring/repetitive, but it's money).  Would also like to get more shirt designs done.

OH, yes, shirts.  Please, if you guys would take the time to look at some of my designs and maybe consider purchasing one of them, that'd be pretty awesome.

I gotta start finding a game to play during these classes, since all the stuff is online anyway, just showing up for the attendance.  Had considered Terraria but I'd need the laptop's processor to go full speed (which'd be a lot of noise), plus would have to start bringing my mouse with me so my fingers don't burn on the trackpad.  Meh.  Any suggestions anyone?  Preferably older games, can be PC, NES, SNES, and would prefer RPGs/roguelikes or anything that's more casual or doesn't require lots of attention or "zoning in" or whatever.

Looking forward to Friday, going to a meetup at school for a brony group I'm in, should be fun.  Not sure what's going on, but considering it's at the Student Union, it'll probably be Super Smash Bros. Melee, that's what everyone plays there (aside from Magic: The Gathering).

Also possibly going out with a friend to a nearby arcade, Boomers, if she's cool with going this week, waiting to find out.  Hoping so though, had a lot of fun when we got lunch before so do hope to spend some time with her again.

Thinking of that though, also trying to cut down on my Pepsi addiction.  Let's face it, I don't think I'll ever stop drinking it, but I gotta say I've really tried drinking it less than I have been.

I started typing this at around 10:15 I believe, and it's now 10:40.  Guess I had a lot to think about.  Now I look up at the notes on the projector screen and it's practically no different than what it was when I started typing.  Goddamn my professor is slow with teaching.

'Til next time everybody/pony

Too Tough to Beat

A pretty good description of what the game I've been playing lately is.  Less so nowadays since people can use save states, though I've been trying to play this without using them at all...well, at least to cheat my way through certain obstacles.  I only save when I'm done playing it for the day.  Played this a lot when I was a kid and barely made it to the second boss each time I played it before shutting off the system, having to start all over again from the beginning the next time I played.

The game I'm talking about is...
Yep, Kid Chameleon on the Sega Genesis.  Think about your old school platformers such as Mario; jumping on baddies, hitting blocks with your head for power-ups, collecting large amounts of a certain valuable, etc.  That's pretty much what this game is.  Only several times more difficult.  Also, the game's path has some variability to it; although you have to fight all the bosses in the game, some levels have warp points that travel to other levels, allowing you to take different pathways through the game's course.  Although you only need to play like 50 levels to beat the game (to the best of my memory), there's over 100 levels that exist in the game.

Basically you're the Kid Chameleon (nickname of the main character, Casey), who goes through a virtual world in an arcade game to beat the boss that captured players that could not beat the game.  Along the way you can smash prize blocks to get various goodies, including masks that give Casey various powers.  Such as...
...the Red Samurai!  Yeah, this one is definitely one of my favorites.  Fast, high  jumper, and can attack with a sword (with a nice kiai to go along with it, which my older brother and I would always imitate when playing this during our childhood), and can even break certain blocks below him if landing on them while holding the sword downward.  On some levels though he can be a real bitch to control, especially on those with jumping puzzles (*ahem* DRAGONSPIKE).

I also enjoy playing with the Iron Knight.  One thing that stands out is his health; usually each powered-up character has 3 health (Casey having 2), but the IK has 5 so he lasts longer.  He's heavy though, so if you land on certain blocks with enough height (4 or 5 blocks I think?), he'll slam right through it.  Well, except for prize blocks, they'll open up first, then you can crush them after.
Oh, what's that ring of circles around him?  That's his 50-Diamond power.  When you have enough diamonds, you can trigger a character's power, the first power costing 20 Diamonds if you have between 20 to 49, or the second power which costs 50 Diamonds if you have at least that amount.  There's a couple characters that have exceptions to this, but I'm not writing an FAQ here.
But, there you have the result.  Once the ring of health bars disappear, an extra bar is added, giving Casey 3 health now, and all characters 4, except for the IK who now has 6.  This can be used until the IK has 9, after which it won't have any effect.  Also, if you die, you lose all bars gained this way.

Oy, just said I wasn't writing an FAQ and already feel like I am.  Anyway, been playing this game lately, and yeah, it's hard as SHIT.  Now I know why I got so frustrated with this game as a child.  Mostly because I had to start all over again each time I played, since I could never leave the Genesis on overnight.  But of course the game doesn't suck at all.  It's a pretty damn good game!  But come on, like...
How in the hell am I gonna jump over that?  Well I guess I could try to get on that platform and jump over it...
...and cannon block outta fucking nowhere! Reminds me of that Super Mario Frustration video, with all those invisible blocks.  It happens in this game sometimes, lots of hidden treasures in this game, but then there tends to be those hidden blocks that screw you over.

And when you get further in the game, there's more traps waiting for you...
...yeah.

At least some of the traps are a bit obvious...
...so anyway, if you own a Genesis (and if you do, that's pretty awesome, I wish I still had some of my old systems), get it.  Though I'm sure most people have other ways of acquiring their games...

But, if you wanna support this game and buy it, check it out on Steam.  They have this game up for like $2.99, and it's well worth it.

Oh, and, if you do play it, watch the intro a few times.  On the third time around, I found something pretty cool...
See him?  Look closely!

Got a bunch of other games on my plate as well, so surely enough I'll write a little bit on all of them.  See you all then!

Oh god, a blog.

Eeyup, I made one.  Now I can complain about the world's problems, obsess about ponies, and talk about all the games I play, new and old.  Isn't that great?

Actually had it in mind to make one for some time after a good friend of mine talked about making one.

So, will be sure to have a link for this up on my YouTube channel somewhere in my info, for all the subscribers/friends/stalkers to look at.  Just writing this for an intro post though, will do another post tonight once I get some dinner in my stomach.
